A New Chapter for Asher
When I first created Asher’s story, I knew he would become more than just a character in a book—he would be a companion for children and families during the holidays. Asher’s Christmas Adventure was his first tale, but it was illustrated overseas. While I loved bringing that book into the world, and the original art was nostalgic, still something about it didn’t quite match the vision I held in my heart.
I wanted Asher’s world to feel vintage and timeless. I wanted the artwork to carry the warmth of childhood Christmases from long ago. That’s when I realized: if I was going to continue building Asher’s story, I needed to partner with an illustrator who shared that same love for nostalgia—and who felt close to home.
Partnering with Bubba Flint
Enter William “Bubba” Flint, a Texas illustrator whose style feels like stepping straight into a classic Christmas book from the 1950s. Bubba and I both treasure vintage holiday traditions, and from the very beginning, it was clear he understood exactly what I wanted for Asher’s second story, Asher’s Christmas Wish.
Working with Bubba has been more than a collaboration. It’s been a meeting of hearts and creativity. Together, we’ve brought out the joy, mischief, and tenderness of a little puppy finding his place in the world. Bubba’s art captures not only Asher’s story but also the magic of Christmas that children will remember for years to come.
Why Texas Matters
Choosing Bubba also reflects a larger decision I’ve made as an author: I want to pair all of my stories with Texas illustrators. There’s something about keeping the creative process close to home that feels true to who I am. My books may go out into the world, but their roots are here in Texas.
This choice is shaping my entire body of work. I am working with three Texas illustrators right now, and each one brings authentic beauty to each of these books. After Asher’s Christmas Wish, Bubba will also be illustrating my new series about Belle, a sassy little puppy with a big personality. Just like with Asher, I know Belle’s stories will carry that same blend of humor, heart, and timeless charm that children and families love.
A September Release
I’m so excited to share that Asher’s Christmas Wish will be released on September 1, 2025. It’s a story about belonging, love, and holiday magic, told with vintage charm and brought to life through Bubba’s art.
This is more than just a book release—it’s a chance to celebrate collaboration, creativity, and the joy of keeping traditions alive.
